ImageView is a utility that allows users to browse satellite images interactively. Users can specify geographic areas of interest, image resolution, and which image bands they wish to view. The Java-enhanced version of ImageView provides additional functionality in the form of vector GIS data overlays to the imagery.

All of the satellite imagery currently served on this site has been acquired by the Landsat Thematic Mapper (TM) sensor. Users can access and browse more than 10 gigabytes of TM data covering the entire state of Minnesota. Those less familiar with remote sensing (satellite) data and its uses may want to browse the information resources available through the above link before beginning an ImageView session.

Note: Please be aware that the images accessible using this server are best viewed using hardware capable of a minimum of SVGA (640x480, 256 colors) resolution.

    ImageView Basic Version
A single mouse-click at a point on a map returns all images containing that point. Supported by most popular graphical web browsers.

    ImageView Java-Enhanced Version
Click and drag on a map to define a rectangular area of interest. Returns all images intersecting that area, along with a county boundary overlay.
    * Requires Java/Javascript/LiveConnect support (In Netscape terms, this means running version 3.0 or above on Windows 95, Windows NT, or Unix; or version 4.0 or above on Windows 3.1)
